Girls Hockey Blitz

Today the year 7 girls hockey team travelled to Coleraine to take part in a hockey blitz. They played 8 matches in total. The girls worked well as a team, encouraging each other and showing amazing hockey skills.

Year 1AH Coding

As part of our ‘Helping Hands’ topic Miss Hemphill’s class have been thinking about emergency vehicles. We used Turtle on Just2Easy to programme a car to move around the town. We learnt that this is called coding a sprite. We can change our sprite and give it directions. Well done 1AH! We have future software engineers in Year 1!

Y7NT work on non-chronological reports

Today in Literacy we looked at examples of non-chronological reports on different subjects. We identified the different features and discussed how they help the reader. We then thought about the non-chronological report we are beginning to write about the Titanic and what title and subheadings we were going to use.

Venn Diagrams in Year 2

In Year 2, we have been learning how to use Venn diagrams to sort objects into different groups. We used classroom objects and sorted them by colour and shape, finding items that were red, round, and both red and round.

Our Y3 KS1 Assembly

Our school value this month is CONFIDENCE and Y3NMLM decided upon this as the theme of their KS1 assembly today. Using Michael Rosen's classic book "We're Going On A Bear Hunt", the boys and girls explained how - just like the family in the story - it is important to face our challenges with confidence. Year 7 have been looking at different musical instruments during music. We have been listening to pieces of music composed during World War 2 and noting the instruments used within the piece. We made a plan of how we could create our own musical instruments and discussed the resources which would make the best sounds.
