In Year 6 this week, we kicked off our topic of Ancient Egypt by learning to make an Egyptian inspired snacks: date, oat and honey energy balls. For many of the pupils, they had never tried a date before, so we had lots of fun learning about and tasting this fruit. The pupils proved to be very talented chefs, making these very delicious Egyptian inspired treats!

Year 1 had a fun Friday being gardeners! This week, we have been learning about how things grow. Today, we visited our polytunnel where we planted our very own sunflower seeds. The children had great fun getting their hands muddy and putting their learning into practice. It helped us understand how plants grow and what they need to live.

As part of our ‘Let’s Get Growing’ topic Miss Hemphill’s class visited the poly tunnel to plant a sunflower seed. We read an information book and followed the steps to plant our seed. This week in Year 2, we have been learning about capacity and exploring what it means for containers to be full, half full, or empty. The children used their prediction skills to estimate the capacity of different items before measuring them using water and cubes. We then compared our results to see how close our predictions were.
