Working in teams, they designed and built structures using only paper and tape, applying ideas about forces , stability and structural strength . Miss O’Neill’s Year 1 class had a fantastic week exploring our topic ‘Yummy Yummy’. We learned all about where different foods come from and how some of them are made. One of the highlights was making our own jelly - and the best part was getting to eat it afterwards. It was delicious!

This week the pupils had the opportunity sort and search an existing database on the Titanic in response to relevant questions. They were able to use the “and” or “or” function to search for the relevant answers.

Miss Hemphill’s class enjoyed making jelly this week. We talked about it started as a powder then a liquid when we added the water and finally a solid when we took it from the fridge. The best part was tasting the yummy jelly.

This week in our phonics lessons, pupils focused on the ‘igh’ sound. They took part in a range of engaging, hands-on activities, including sorting real and nonsense words in the tuff tray, building words with magnetic letters, completing a Reading Eggs task on the iPads, and working through a written worksheet.
