Mrs Boyle’s class enjoyed a brilliant Science Week! They researched Irish scientist Sir Francis Beaufort and created fact files about his life. Inspired by his wind scale, they designed and tested their own wind turbines using a hair dryer. The class also joined a BBC Live Space Lesson, exploring exciting ideas about our solar system.

This week in science the pupils had the opportunity to design and make a boat powered by elastic energy. The pupils used corroflute and an elastic band to make a propellor boat which would travel along a water way. Well done to 2CH for their presentation at our Foundation Stage assembly on Wednesday, focusing on our monthly value, Harmony. The children did a fantastic job delivering their lines, singing the song, and performing the actions with confidence and enthusiasm. 2JMcL pupils loved planting sunflower seeds as part of their World Around Us topic. They learned what plants need to grow and got hands-on filling pots, planting seeds and watering their new seedlings. We can’t wait to watch their sunflowers grow!

Miss Hemphill’s class are enjoying our Yummy Yummy topic. In Using Mathematics we decided to find out which type of grape was more popular - red or green. After tasting our grapes we used a cube to represent our choice. We then counted the number of cubes for each choice and entered the data into a bar chart. We were able to say green was the most popular.
