Competition: From NI Farms to Fork
Dear Parents / Carers,
We are excited to inform you about a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to participate in this year's competition organised by the Ulster Farmers' Union (UFU) in partnership with the Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend (BOIOFW) initiative and sponsored by Asda.
Competition Theme: "From NI farms to fork"
This theme aims to educate pupils on how farmers work hard to produce the high-quality food we eat and the importance of understanding food origins. The competition is divided into different categories:
- Foundation (Primary 1 and 2): Pupils will decorate a picture template showing "From NI farms to fork" and the products produced in Northern Ireland. (Template attached)
- Key Stage 1 (Primary 3 and 4): Pupils will draw an image and create a tagline/slogan to help promote NI farmers' high-quality produce. (Template attached)
- Key Stage 2 (Primary 5, 6, and 7): Pupils will create a sustainability body initiative, including a logo and a 150-200 word explanation on how NI can better promote its local produce. (Template attached)
- Special Schools: Can enter any section of the competition.
Please note that entries will be showcased on social media and on farms throughout the weekend. If a pupil wishes not to have their name on display, please write their name on the back of the entry.
Submission Details: Please send your entries to: BOIOFW Schools’ Competition, Ulster Farmers’ Union, 475 Antrim Road, Belfast, BT15 3DA.
Deadline: All entries must be received by Friday 11th April.
Children can take part in this competition if they wish. It is a wonderful opportunity to showcase their creativity and learn more about the importance of farming in Northern Ireland.
Thank you for your support.
